Tulip Tours guests left the US on two different days and flew from several different locations in the US all heading to the other side of the world! There were a few weather concerns that impacted some of our group before we flew out. A mudslide closed a portion of I-5 just south of Bellingham interrupting the timely arrival of the airport shuttle, and high winds delayed the departure of our friends in Pasco so they missed the connecting flight with the group in Seattle. Nonetheless, we met up for the final 12+ hour flight to Auckland, New Zealand. There were 9 people who had arrived a day ahead and enjoyed a good night of sleep, plus a visit to the city center of Auckland to explore! The rest of us arrived somewhat rested this morning and ready to begin our adventures! We crossed the international dateline during our flight, adding confusion as to what day it really is! Most of our group would say it was Super Bowl Sunday, but it’s actually Monday over here!
We boarded Holland America Line’s MS Maasdam today, with the anticipation of making memories of a lifetime as we cruise the North and South Islands of New Zeeland, and then head to Syndey, Australia at the end of the cruise. We will do our best to share our adventures and pictures over the next couple weeks, but please know that “blogging” will be dependent on WiFi availability!
