Jerusalem- The Mount of Olives and Garden of Gethsemane

Today we began on top of the Mount of Olives. Can you see the Dome of the Rock in the background?

Walking down from the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem with a crowd similar to the path that Jesus would have walked on Palm Sunday

The Garden of Gethsemane was a moving experience for us…the stories from the gospels in the New Testament came alive as we wandered and sat amongst the rows of olive trees in this place!

Rabbi John taught us about olive presses and helped us to think about how Jesus was “pressed” that night in Gethsemane.
The stone from the pinnacle of the temple where the shofar would have been blown before sacrificing.  Jesus’ 2nd temptation would have occurred near this stone.

The Double Gate through which many people entered the Temple Mount.
We are on the steps just outside the south wall.
Peter would have likely preached his Pentecost sermon from this place.

Our last stop of the day was at the Golden Gate. This is the place where it is prophesied that Jesus will come again to judge the world.
